Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, welcomed the support and co-operation of ministries and authorities in organising Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship Bahrain which will be held on November 25.
Shaikh Nasser praised the co-operation between the Organising Committee and the ministries and authorities which would contribute to making the championship successful.
He said this big international event will turn the attention of many of its fans to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Shaikh Nasser joined a large number of athletes who are taking part in the event during a two-day training in running, cycling and swimming. He praised the athletes for their high standards of performance during training prior to the actual event.
Elsewhere, the Organising Committee of the Championship has also set up a trial cycling race on the official race track, which will take place on Saturday. The race will have athletes of both genders.
Exciting
Athlete David Plese stressed that the championship would be exciting, especially that there are many outstanding competitors who have achieved remarkable results in the past races.
Another athlete, Mikel Kalahora, thanked Shaikh Nasser for his great interest and support for Ironman events.
Both Plese and Calahorra also expressed their readiness to participate in the event.
