The Bahrain Olympic Committee’s (BOC) Women Sport Committee is organising the Women’s Sports Festival on December 22 to celebrate the Bahrain National Day.
As a build-up to the event, the committee’s projects directorate are putting the final touches during a meeting with representatives of national sports federations held recently.
Projects director Lounes Madene and the federations had discussions on the latter’s needs to ensure smooth conduct of the festival. Both parties also had talks about the suggested number of participants, the venues and the competition programme.
The festival will bring eight sports in total, including 3-on-3 basketball and football – both of which will take place at Bahrain Sports for People with Disabilities Federation’s hall in Riffa.
The volleyball has been planned to be staged at Bahrain Volleyball Association gym. Table tennis, taekwondo and karate will all be at Bahrain Table Tennis Association, while Isa Town Sports City will host athletics events.
There are 20 teams lined up for the basketball tournament, five players in table tennis, 70 in taekwondo, 30 in karate, the handball and volleyball will see four teams to compete in each sport, while registration is still open for athletics.
The organising committee of the festivities also approved trophies and medals for all winners in each championship.
