Dubai: The Dubai-based Emirates Airways shared in festivities marking Bahrain’s 46th National Day, which falls on Saturday, December 16.
The carrier sent the largest passenger plane - A 380 - on a single trip to Bahrain International Airport.
The flight 835 "A380” from Dubai International Airport to Bahrain was one of the shortest for an Airbus A380, lasting only 1.15 hrs reports Albayan.
In another symbolic move, Emirates Airways chose Bahraini pilot Hassan Al-Satea and his compatriot co-pilot First Officer Jassim Al-Askari to operate commemorative flight.
Emirates Airways first started its service to Bahrain in 2000, but has since evolved, scheduling four daily flights to Bahrain, pending market demands.
The carrier employs 71 people, holders of Bahraini nationality, as pilots and crew members.
Powered by Rolls-Royce engines, the double-deck A380 which landed in Bahrain is configured in three cabin classes, with 58 flat-bed seats in Business Class, 120 seats in the economy class and 437 seats in the main deck.
