Saudi Arabia will start levying fees on expatriate workers in the private sector early next year (2018), the Ministry of Finance announced.
The new levy-paying scheme aims at pushing the private sector companies to employ nationals, it said on its Twitter account.
The monthly levy to be paid by private companies will range from SR300 to SR400, based on the number of expatriate workers, in comparison with nationals.
Thus, each private firm will have to pay SR300 monthly for each foreign worker – in case the number of nationals exceeds expatriates in the same company.
In case the equation between nationals and expatriates is otherwise, firms will have to pay SR400 monthly per foreign worker.
