The Abu Dhabi authorities announced plans to levy Value Added Tax (VAT) on a number of health services, according to Al Bayan newspaper.

The five per cent VAT levy will take effect on Monday, corresponding to January 1, as planned.

The new VAT scheme is in compliance with the Federal Law Decree (8) of 2017 and its executive bylaw which was issued by Cabinet’s edict 52 of 2017.

The Abu Dhabi Health acting undersecretary Mohammed Hamad Al Hamli issued a circular to all health insurance firms and suppliers of health services to update their electronic reports and report the VAT levies.
