Expatriates are rushing to benefit by the amnesty people and regulated their situation in Kuwait.
Hundreds of foreigners were seen standing in long queues in front of are directorates of residency affairs in the country’s six governorates to submit their applications.
The Ministry of Interior had announced a general amnesty for foreign workers who are in breach of the national laws on residency.
The amnesty which took effect on the 29th of January will remain in force will until the 22nd of February.
The lifeline extended by the authorities is expected to benefit around 130,000 illegal expatriates.
A security source said that a massive campaign would be launched countrywide after the amnesty to target violators who failed to regulate their situation.
The amnesty does not apply to residency violators with a travel ban or active criminal case against.
Kuwait country last granted a full amnesty period for illegal residents in 2011.
A partial amnesty where violators still had to pay fines also took place in January 2016.
