BAHRAIN continued their winning ways in the GCC Under-17 Basketball Championship yesterday with a 73-41 rout of Qatar at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat.
With the result, the Bahrainis also secured their qualification for the Fiba U18 Asian Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Bangkok in August. This continental tournament will qualify the top four teams to the Fiba U19 Basketball World Cup in 2019.
Against Qatar, Mustafa Hussain top scored for the victors with 23 points, while Mozamel Ameer added 13. Ahmed Fateel chipped in with nine points and three steals, while Baqer Al Aradi had eight points and four steals.
The win was the third in as many games for Bahrain and it kept them in line to clinch the tournament title. They next face Saudi Arabia in their final game of the competition on Saturday. That clash will decide the GCC crown.
