Muscat: Bollywood movie 'Papa Kehte Hain Bada Naam Karega' is set to showcase beautiful locales of Oman on the silver screen.
Producers Rahul Mitra, Deepak Tijori and Harshvardhan Deo said at a press conference that 98 per cent of the film will be shot in Oman and 95 per cent of the actors and technical crew comprise Omanis.
Locations in Sur, Sharqiyah, Bausher, Yiti and Amerat will be seen in the movie, which is expected is to be ready by the end of the year.
The film shows the struggles of a young cricketer played by budding actor Vineesh Verma.
Vineesh told TheWeek,“I have been researching about Oman to understand the culture and climate of the sultanate to prepare myself for this role,” he said.
Enchanted by Oman, Deepak Tijori, “I have been wondering why filmmakers have not considered shooting in Oman before. There are beautiful locations everywhere and it is great to know that we are the first to take up shooting a major part of a movie here.”
The film – dubbed in Hindi, English and Arabic – will have guest appearances by Bollywood veterans Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah, director Harleen Singh said.
