Second seed Ronald Anacin beat Durai Raj 6-1, 6-1 for a winning start in the men’s singles of the 69th Open Tennis Championship which kicked off yesterday at Indian Club.
Cassius Pereira also opened his campaign in style defeating Atul Malhotra 6-4, 6-4.
In the men’s doubles, Khalid Qayoom and Ashraf Atabani claimed their first win at the expense of Bikash Agarwal and Deepak Mutha.
The tournament is sponsored by Y.K. Almoayyed, BFC and BMMI.
There are eight categories – Super Singles, Super Doubles, Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Veterans Singles, Mixed Doubles, Ladies Singles and Ladies Doubles – in this tournament which will run until April 13.
