The United Arab Emirates has submitted a complaint to the UN Security Council president and member states over the Qatari interception of two UAE-registered civilian aircraft in the past few days.
On March 26, two Qatari fighter jets came within 214 vertical metres of a UAE-registered Airbus from the north and circled behind it, Al Bayan newspaper reported.
The plane was on a scheduled flight to Europe when the incident happened over international waters, 18 nautical miles (33 kilometres) from the Qatari coast.
Earlier, the UAE lodged a complaint with the United Nations last January against Qatar whose jets intercepted two Emirati civilian aircrafts which were on routine flights to Bahrain.
The UAE deplored the continuous Qatari violations which "threaten civilian flights bearing the Emirati flag".
The UAE had already filed a complaint with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) over the Qatari violations.
