Manama: Riffa downed defending champions Malkiya 1-0 yesterday at Al Ahli Club Stadium to avoid relegation and remain in the Bahrain NBB First Division Football League for next season.
Mohammed Jassim Marhoon scored the winner in the 21st minute as Riffa now have 19 points, while Malkiya remained with 27 points.
Meanwhile, Al Ahli drew with Al Shabab 2-2 at Bahrain National Stadium, and Al Hidd defeated East Riffa 2-1 at Khalifa Sports City Stadium during the 17th week of the competition.
Mahdi Hemaidan scored an injury time goal to help Al Ahli avoid defeat and force a draw.
Al Shabab led the first half 1-0, with Ali Hassan Saeed scoring in the 38th minute, before Al Ahli equalised in the 51st minute of the second half through Ali Al Asfoor.
Al Shabab regained the lead in the 85th minute through Sayed Ahmed Jaffar but Hemaidan came to the rescue to seal the outcome.
Al Ahli have 16 points, while Al Shabab have 21 points.
East Riffa took the upperhand in the second minute through Sami Al Hussaini but Al Hidd equalised in the fifth minute through Isa Ghaleb.
Al Hidd scored the winning goal in the 56th minute through Mohammed Al Teyyeb.
Al Hidd now have 21 points, while East Riffa remained 17 points.
