Riyadh: A Saudi national jumped to his death from a luxury cruise ship.
According to witnesses, Omar Salman Awadh Al-Matiri was in tears before he threw himself into the sea.
The tragic incident happened on April 3 as the cruise ship was returning to Barcelona after a two-week trip.
An investigation conducted by the Spanish Civil Guard said that the Saudi passenger jumped off the ship when it was 30 miles away from Murcia, in South East Spain.
The Saudi Embassy in Madrid was informed about the incident on April 4.
The 34-year-old man studied in the United States before joining Saudi Aramco.
The Spanish authorities found his personal belongings, passport, wallet and mobile phone, visa cards and laptop on the cruise ship.
The investigation, which was completed yesterday, dismissed any criminal suspicion in Al-Matiri’s death.
