The authorities in Oman issued 45,947 electronic visas during the period from March 21, 2018, to April 16.
The governmant has endorsed a string of measures and initiatives in a bid to streamline and fast-track visa procedures for tourists arriving to the sultanate.
The Ministry of Tourism announced, on the sidelines of the Arab Travel Market (ATM), that seven new hotels would be constructed in Dhofar during the current year, adding up to 1,851 rooms.
The number of hotels increased by 8.9 per cent, jumping from from 337 in 2016 to 367 in 2017, posting an annual growth rate of 6.4pc in the period from 2009 to 2017.
These establishments provided 20,851 rooms in 2017 compared to 18,825 rooms in the previous year with a change of 9.3pc and an annual growth rate of 8.8pc during the period from 2009 to 2017, said Oman Observer.
