BAHRAIN lost by 51 runs to the UAE yesterday in the ICC World Twenty20 Asia Region Qualifying Tournament in Kuwait City.
It was Bahrain’s second defeat in three matches. They lost their first match to Saudi Arabia and then beat Maldives in the second.
In yesterday’s match, the UAE batted first and reached 149 for nine in their 20 overs with Ashfaq Ahmed (29, 27 balls, 3 four, 2 six) and Muhammad Usman (52, 33 balls, 2 four, 4 six) the main scorers.
Mohammed Iqbal Noor (2-35) and Zeeshan Abbas (2-26) were the main wicket takers for Bahrain.
In reply, Yasser Nazir (26, 42 balls, 2 four, 1 six) was the top scorer as Bahrain were restricted tor 98 for eight in their 20 overs.
In yesterday’s other matches, Qatar beat Maldives by 44 runs and Saudi Arabia got the better of Kuwait by seven wickets.
The UAE stay top of the table with three wins from three matches and six points while Qatar and Saudi Arabia are on four points each while Kuwait and Bahrain are on two points and Maldives have all lost all their three matches.
In today’s matches, Bahrain take on Kuwait, Maldives meet the UAE and Saudi Arabia clash with Qatar.
