Kuwait City – Three Egyptian doctors have been sentenced from 6 months to one year over the medical blunder.
The court of misdemeanor ordered them to pay the combined sum of KD5001 in compensation for causing a female patient’s death.
The convicts reportedly left the woman as she was "dying" and told her husband that they had another VIP patient who needs medical care.
The woman was admitted to Al-Sabah hospital emergency with a stomach ache after making a mistake in taking diabetes pills.
The doctors reportedly examined her and told her husband that she is in a stable condition before going to the VIP patient.
They came back seven hours later and took the woman to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a dialysis. She died four hours later after her health deteriorated quickly.
A medical report cited “neglect and in compliance with medical procedures” in dealing with the patient, which led to her death.
