BRITISH SCHOOL of Bahrain (BSB) finished seventh in the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) annual Secondary Games held in Sheffield, England, last weekend.
Sixteen students from BSB proudly represented their school, families and country after six months of hard training.
Eight boys and eight girls, aged 11-13, participated in swimming, athletics and football events.
The whole event, from the opening ceremony at Pond’s Forge to the last second of the final event, was live streamed to families around the world.
“We are extremely proud of all the students who represented the school. They deserve huge credit for the stamina and resilience they have shown,” said Julie Anne Gilbert, head of school.
“I am very grateful to the whole PE department, particularly Jonathan MacMillan and Naomi Gay, for going above and beyond in supporting of the team “.
BSB were particularly strong in the boys’ team events, winning gold in the medley relay in the pool and silver in the 4x100m relay on the track.
Hard
All the hard work put in by Ryan Sweeting, Mansour Al Shakar, Rayyan Amin, Hamza Radwan and Liam Marshall really paid off, said Gilbert.
“Particular congratulations go to Liam Marshall who phenomenally won gold medals in 50m butterfly and 200m individual medley in the pool as well as the 1500m on the track. “
