Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates outlined a unified vision aimed at boosting the two nations’ global stature by announcing 44 joint projects, Arab News reported.
The strategic partnership seeks to move the two allies closer on economic and security grounds as well as developing better living standards for citizens.
Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Defence Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and UAE Armed Forces Deputy Supreme Commander Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan chaired the first meeting of the Saudi-Emirati Co-ordination Council in Jeddah on Thursday.
The structure of the co-ordination council was announced with the aim of boosting joint co-operation on the implementation of projects.
A five-year implementation time frame was also announced for strategic projects.
The aim of the council is to promote Saudi-Emirati stature on the global stage in a number of areas including economic, political affairs, human development and security, as well as ensuring citizens' welfare and happiness.
The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince said that the two countries have an opportunity to create an exceptional Arab model of co-operation.
He said the solidarity and unity between Saudi Arabia and the UAE "protects our interests and strengthens our economies and builds a better future for our citizens".
The Saudi Crown Prince received Shaikh Mohammed at Jeddah airport.
