Bahrain fighters bagged four medals with Murtadah Ali winning the gold in 93kg category of the European Open Mixed Martial Arts Championship for Amateurs which was held from June 18 to 22 in Bucharest.
Ali Yaqoub won two silver in the 61kg and 70kg categories while Yousif Sayyar took home the bronze in the 77kg category of this event organised by the IMMAF.
Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association and Honourary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities, congratulated His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, as well as Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, on Bahrain’s achievement.
Shaikh Khalid thanked HM the King for his support to MMA that led to Bahrain’s accomplishment in the prestigious championship
“We are proud of our men for their efforts to succeed. Such an accomplishment will encourage us to double our efforts to conquer more arenas,” said Shaikh Khalid. “We will continue supporting this sport.”
