The Bahrain Royal Endurance Team made the country proud again by sweeping the first five places in the 80km category at Euston Endurance Ride held in Britain over the weekend.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, congratulated the team on their achievements.
“The team has accomplished their goal in the British race, which is to reap honours for the Kingdom and prepare for upcoming endurance racing championships,” said Shaikh Nasser.
“Our team had greatly benefited from their participation in terms of training, performance and the enthusiasm of the riders to win. The British race was a place to confirm the superiority of Bahraini riders and their development.”
Khalifa Mubarak emerged champion in the category where some of the world’s top riders took part after finishing in 04.04.21 hours.
Khalifa Jamal (04.04.22) and Khalid Yusuf (04.04.23) came second and third, respectively.
Completing Bahrain’s success were Yacoob Al Hammadi (04.04.36) in fourth and Raed Mahmood (04.04.360 in fifth.
The training of horses was supervised by Abdulrahman Abdullatif and Sumaya Jassem.
In the 160km race, another Bahrain rider, Abdulrahman Al Zayed, won fifth place to earn himself a slot in the world championship which will be held in Tyron, USA.
