Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs representative, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president, praised the initiative of the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) to activate ‘Estijabah’ which aims to boost sports in the Kingdom.
‘Estijabah’, also known as ‘Response’, was launched by Shaikh Nasser recently in an attempt to develop all areas of sports in Bahrain.
Shaikh Nasser expressed appreciation to BBA president Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa for the latter’s response to the initiative by activating a dedicated scholarship programme for clubs and national teams representatives.
Shaikh Nasser noted that ‘Estijabah’ is an important step towards establishing a new era of sports in Bahrain by initiating a number of key and active partnerships with the private sector in the kingdom.
He was referring to the agreement signed by the BBA with three major universities – the University of Bahrain, Ahliya University and AMA – and hoped for other authorities to follow suit.
