Kuwait City: An Egyptian expatriate employee suspected of involvement in an academic degree forgery scam is facing legal action.
The Ministry of Higher Education unearthed the scam, announcing that more than 400 forged academic degrees have been discovered over the past months.
The suspect, who works with the ministry as a printing employee, helped Kuwaiti nationals enter their forged academic degrees in the IT system in exchange for KD700 to KD1,000.
The initial investigation has revealed that the suspect, who arrived in Kuwait in 2007, has been engaged in the forgery scam for the past few years, reported Alqabas.
He confessed to coordinating with a compatriot in Cairo, who forged the academic degrees and put the fake seals of the Kuwaiti Embassy and cultural office in Egypt before sending them to him for 'accreditation'.
