Ras Ruman Youth Centre claimed an incredible comeback victory to knock out Abu Saiba Youth Centre 6-4 and progress to the quarter-finals of the sixth Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League.
Ras Ruman found themselves 4-2 behind during the final minutes of the match, but they scored four quick goals to stun their opponents. Qassim Hassan contributed five goals to help Ras Ruman advance to the last 16-stage and earn himself the man of the match award.
Sanabis Youth Centre, meanwhile, had an easy ride against Bu Quwah Youth Centre, defeating them 6-3. Qassim Hassan scored a goal for the winners and won the man of the match award.
Hamad Town Youth Centre also entered the quarter-finals after drubbing Jurdab 6-2. Bashar Al Nashaba scored twice for the winners and won the man of the match award.
The league, held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, Bahrain Athletics Association president and Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities honorary president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, witnessed the special attendance of international referees Nawaf Shukrallah, Yasir Talfat and Ibrahim Mubarak who represented the kingdom in the last two editions of the World Cup.
Shukrallah said that he was happy to be present at this youth forum, which has witnessed great success since its inception. He said that the patronage of Shaikh Khalid has helped in the success of the league, adding, “The noble objectives of Shaikh Khalid are not limited to sports but extend to other fields also.”
He said that the expansion of the league will strengthen relations and enrich Bahraini sports with numerous raw talents from youth centres and clubs.
Talfat said, “The league has managed to attract a wide range of youth from the cities and towns of the kingdom, which helps in spotting football talents capable of representing our clubs and national teams.”
