The Ministry of Interior team downed the Ministry of Information Affairs 7-2 to open their campaign in style in the 6th Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League held at Khalifa Sports City on Saturday.
Abdullah Mohammed of the Ministry of Interior largely contributed to the win in Group 1 to claim the best man of the match award.
In Group 2, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications team defeated the Ministry of Housing team by the same score.
Mohammed Younis Ashoor contributed four goals for the winners en route to being named the best man of the match.
The Ministry of Health team eased past the Institute of Public Administration 14-1. Nasser Hilal Masha’an found the net five times and took home the best player of the game award.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs team drubbed the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism 4-1 in Group 1. Akbar Saeed found the net twice and won the best player of the match.
Meanwhile, the launch of the Ministries League witnessed a significant turnout through the attendance of the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, Assistant Undersecretary of Resources and Information at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, Arif Al Mansouri, Assistant Undersecretary of Radio and Television Affairs, Abdullah Khalid Al Dosari, and Acting Director of Bahrain TV Bassam Al Ansari, as well as the Assistant Coach of Bahrain National Football team, Khalid Taj.
They praised the sixth edition of the league, held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy president, Bahrain Athletics Association president, and Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation honorary president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
They also noted the broad scope of participation to include many officials and civil authorities and bodies. The league is held this year with the wide participation of youth centres, national clubs, young women, disabled individuals, ministries and communities.
Al Zayani hailed the initiatives of Shaikh Khalid in promoting youth and sports.
“These initiatives are beginning to bear fruit and take their place in society by integrating different segments of the community,” Al Zayani said.
“These initiatives have achieved numerous gains for Bahraini sports and the community, in light of the increased participation of more than 80 teams and over 1,000 players, as well as the integration of ministries, communities, disabled persons and young women in this league. Any observer of the league can clearly perceive that is a microcosm of Bahraini society.”
Al Mansouri, for his part, stressed that this event helps in developing a sense of belonging to the country.
