A 2004 American romantic comedy-drama film, Garden State, will be screened at the Bahrain Cinema Club tonight at 7pm.
The film tells the story of Andrew, an actor/waiter played by Zach Braff, who returns to his small home town in New Jersey after many years away to attend his mother’s funeral.
There he is confronted with the various aspects of the life he has left behind, including his overbearing father. He also meets compulsive liar and amateur musician Sam (Natalie Portman), with whom he feels an immediate connection.
Together with several other figures from his past, Andrew heals old wounds and forges new friendships.
The film received positive reviews upon its release and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival.
