Bastora GFB sealed a 1-0 victory against Nachinola FC in the Pedro Memorial Seven-a-side Goans Inter-Village Football League at Dasman Ground in Gudaibiya.
Anthony Fernandes netted in the winner for Bastora with a thunderous right footer sending Nachinola goalkeeper Gavin D’souza the wrong way.
Bastora’s playmaker and striker Bruno Fernandes was heavily guarded by Nachinola defenders Rubert Castillino and Andrew Fernandes, foiling his attempts to strike on Nachinola’s goal.
Earlier, Curtorim Snipers crushed Sirsaim FC Veterans 7-1 in their second game to go six points clear at the top of the table in Group A.
A brace from Haren Hubert Lobo and Lanice Fernandes put Curtorim in the driving seat. Playmaker Leslie Pexioto added to the score line to make it 5-0. Defender Sanches Dias then scored a stunning goal, his left foot strike beating Sirsaim goalkeeper Jackson Fernandes to his left.
In the second half Sirsaim’s veteran player Cirilo Barreto scored a cheeky goal past Curtorim goalkeeper Eusebio Fernandes to make it 1-6. Curtorim increased the lead further when they were awarded a penalty five minutes from the final whistle. Rocky Fernandes converted the spot kick.
In another game, Majorda Milagres scrapped past against Dabal Snipers to win 3-2 at home.
Striker Tony Fernandes opened the scoring for Majorda with a perfect leaping header. Majorda scored their second goal in the 15th minute when Stanley Soares provided a perfect ball to Cliryn Correia on the right flank. Correia’s 15-yard strike on Dabal goal pierced the right top corner of the net.
Xamaro Rodrigues pulled one back for Dabal minutes into the second half with a powerful strike to make it 2-1. Prashant Moses made it 2-2 with a classic right foot strike that beat Majorda’s stand in goalkeeper Arthur Fernandes. Lucas D’melo netted for Majorda during the last minutes to clinch a 3-2 win.
