The United Arab Emirates (UAE) today celebrates Flag Day, which falls on November 1, Emarat Al Youm reported.
The UAE flag, which contains the pan-Arab colours red, green, white and black, will be hoisted around the country at 11am, symbolising national unity, allegiance to the leadership, common destiny and the federal values which inspired the founding fathers.
The move followed a call from UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Meanwhile, trading companies and other shopping outlets have been warned not to use the celebrations to make profits by increasing the prices of flags.
The Ministry of Economy said that violators found in breach of the regulations would be fined from AED5,000 to AED100,000.
Customer Protection director Dr Hashem Al Nuaimi said that the inspection campaign would continue at shopping outlets countrywide until the 47th National Day, which falls on December 2.
