THE organising committee of the 2019 Bahrain Sports Day last night confirmed the venues for the event to be held on February 12,
The third edition of the of the event, to be organised by Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), will be held at specially created sports villages in each of the kingdom’s four governorates.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant secretary general and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) secretary general Abdulrahman Askar chaired the meeting. He thanked Information Affairs Ministry, GPIC, Batelo and Regency Hotel for their support to the event.
Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs Shaikh Saqer bin Salman Al Khalifa met representatives of the four governorates and discussed the various aspects of the events line-up.
The Northern Governorate will hold a walkathon event at A’ali walkway in addition to some recreational games. Several medical centres will provide health check ups early in the morning.
Muharraq Governorate will hold a football competition for players aged over 40, a running race and a tug-of-war contest at the Muharraq Club.
Activities
The Capital Governorate will hold its activities at Al Najma Club in cooperation with the Military Sports Federation. Events will include a walkathon near Al Fateh cornice and other recreational activities.
The Southern Governorate will hold its events at the Awali walkway.
Rashid Abdul Latif Al Zayani, member of the organising committee, said Bahrain International Circuit has agreed to host a cycle race, a marathon and a walkathon for women from 3pm to 5pm.
Shura and Parliament Councils will also be holding competitions which include a 4km walkathon, tug-of-war, table tennis and badminton.
