Riffa put one foot in the final of the King Cup championship after defeating Muharraq 3-1 in the first leg of the semi-final at Bahrain National Stadium yesterday.
Al Hidd also raised hopes of reaching the final by defeating Al Hala 3-0 in the other semi-final played later in the evening at the same venue.
Riffa led the first half 2-0 after Kumail Al Aswad converted a penalty kick in the 33rd minute and Daeo scored in the 45th minute.
Riffa made it 3-0 in the 63rd minute through Kumail Al Aswad and Muharraq reduced the margin in the injury time when Rashid Jamal scored through a penalty kick.
Muharraq will now look to win the second leg with a three-goal difference to make it to the final. Riffa, on the other hand, can qualify even with a draw or a loss by one goal difference.
In the second match, Hidd opened scoring thourgh Mohammed Faris. They added two more goals through Sa’ad Al Amer in the 63rd minute and Mohammed Abdulwahab in the 92nd minute.
The second-leg matches will be held on Monday.
