Manama joined Riffa on the top of the table after defeating Malkiya 2-1 in the Nasser bin Hamad Football Premier League at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town last night.
Earlier, Al Najma also claimed a 2-1 victory over Al Shabab at the same venue.
Manama’s opening goal was scored by Mahmood Abdulrahman from the penalty spot after just eight minutes. Later, Brazilian Tiago Agusto scored their second goal in the 30th minute.
Malkiya reduced the margin during injury time when Sayed Hashim Isa converted a penalty kick.
With this victory, Manama and Riffa are now joint leaders with 21 points while Malkiya remained in the eighth place with nine points.
Ali Madan netted the opening goal for Al Najma in the 17th minute while Al Shabab’s Faisal Al Harthi scored the equaliser in the 31st minute.
Just moments before the end of the first half, Al Najma’s Ibrahim Habib scored the winning goal.
Al Najma are now fourth with 19 points, only two points behind leaders Riffa and Manama and one behind Muharraq, while Al Shabab remained at the bottom with six points.
