As an international school committed to the development of students’ global awareness, AMA International School Bahrain (AMAISB) organises activities and programmes that equip students with the relevant knowledge, values and necessary skills they need to succeed.
From January 21 to 27, 2019, student-delegates of AMAISB attended the Berkshire Leadership and Sports Course in Berkshire, the UK.
The course gave students the opportunity to improve their communication, social, cultural and leadership skills.
Students from schools all around the world participated and AMAISB students interacted with them to share their ideas, talents and skills.
Everyone in attendance had fun exploring the best sites in London and learning about life in the UK.
The AMAISB team headed by co-ordinator Mahmoud Ismail included nine dynamic, smart high school students Yousif Alshaikh, Khalid Suliman, Mehdi Hassan, Abdulla Adel Alameeri, Zubaida Mohammed, Nasser Malik, Ahmed Alarayedh, Noor Jalal and Zahra Younis,
Students had many positive comments about their experiences on the course and the trip in general.
Nasser Malik commented: “It was a delightful trip, I would rate it 10/10.
“I got to meet and interact with different people and I would recommend it to my friends so they would learn new things.”

Abdulla Adel Alameeri who was visiting the UK for the first time described the experience as ‘amazing’ and said, “I learned most about leadership and independence.”
Zahra Younis said, “I liked best the weather and the teachers/speakers there.”
Khalid Suliman described the trip as ‘fun and interesting’ and said, “I learned about video creation and leadership.”
Ahmed Alarayedh added, “It was a very good trip.
“We had fun and had a blast.
“I learned how to be in charge of myself and got some tips on film-making.
“I would like to go to the US for another trip and experience.”
The course concluded with AMAISB delegates receiving awards.
Mr Ismail was awarded ‘Best Team Leader’ for driving his students to be competitive and give their best, while showing their individuality.
Two AMAISB students, Nasser Malik and Zara Younis, were awarded ‘Student of the Course’.
The biggest highlight and finale of the course was Nasser Malik being recognised for his huge potential which saw him receive a full scholarship to the University of Reading.
Among all 60 delegates, he was the only student chosen to enjoy a university scholarship in one of the best-known tertiary institutions in the UK.
Upon their return, all students had learned new things, not only skills but more so about life in general and being independent and responsible.
The experience also helped them discover their strengths and challenges, and how to overcome those challenges.
AMAISB will continue to provide its students learning opportunities in and outside the school as well as uphold its commitment of developing global citizens ever ready to face the challenges of the dynamic world.
