Ahmed Yousif scored a second half goal to help Malkiya edge Budaiya 1-0 while Manama held Al Najma 1-1 in 11th week matches of the Nasser bin Hamad Football Premier League at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town last night.
The all-important goal in the match between Malkiya and Budaiya came in the 73rd minute, taking the former’s tally to 12 points.
In the other match, Al Najma took the lead in the 10th minute through Mahamadou Drame. Manama’s equaliser came in the second half when Mahmood Abdulrahman converted a penalty kick.
Manama retained their top position after the draw. Manama now have 22 points, just one point ahead of Riffa, who have played one match less. Al Najma, meanwhile, moved to the third position with 20 points.
Al Hala will take on Al Shabab at 7.30pm tonight at Bahrain National Stadium. Al Hala have eight points while Shabab have collected six so far.
