Silcia Garcia of Bahrain Royal Team’s Victorious emerged champion of HM the King International Endurance Cup which took place yesterday.
Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs representative, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman of the, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president and Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) honourary president, honoured Garcia for her victory.
The Uruguayan defeated a pool of elite endurance professionals to top the podium of this major global event which was sponsored by GFH Financial Group.
She completed the 160 km race in 6.24.41 hours, travelling at a speed of 26 km/h. Finishing second was the UAE’s Salem Al Katbi, who was only two seconds behind the winner, but was a mere one second ahead of third-placed Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.
Following the events of the race were His Majesty the King and UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Shaikh Nasser dedicated the victory to HM the King, stressing that many achievements in the endurance sport have been accomplished due to HM’s support and keen interest and care.
Shaikh Nasser expressed his appreciation and gratitude to HM the King for patronising the event. He welcomed Shaikh Mohammed on the occasion of his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain to follow the race.
Shaikh Nasser congratulated the winners of the top three places and praised GFH Financial Group’s sponsorship to the event which made the race a huge success.
