Kuwait's Prime Minister HH Sheikh Jaber Al Mubarak Al Hamad Al Sabah has instructed ministers to maintain strict control over public sector projects and take appropriate measures to fast-track the ongoing development works across the country and complete them on time, said a report.
The direction from the Premier came during the weekly cabinet meeting which discussed the rate of project completions and delivery schedules as well as legal measures, including fines or withdrawal, against uncompleted projects, reported state news agency Kuna.
During the meeting, Sheikh Jaber underlined the significance of applying punitive measures enshrined in Law 49/2016 regarding public tenders and its executive statute issued in February 2017 on faltering businesses, stated the report, citing Deputy Prime Minister Anas Al Saleh.
"The Prime Minister also ordered ministers concerned to inform the Central Agency for Public Tenders about uncompleted projects in line with Article 85 of Law 49/2016 which states that the company which fails to adhere to a concluded contract should be denied access to any future tenders," revealed Al Saleh.
Sheikh Jaber also recommended strict action against those behind the project delay, he added.
