TWO of Bahrain’s most popular community music ensembles, the Manama Singers and the St Christopher’s Cathedral Big Band, come together for the first time for a memorable concert tomorrow.
‘Musical Majesty’ is a farewell concert in honour of St Christopher’s Cathedral dean, The Very Reverend Chris Butt, and wife Tricia, who sang with the Manama Singers for many years.
The performance will be held at the cathedral’s Alun Morris Hall in Manama from 7pm onwards.
The 40-member Manama Singers, under the direction of Jo Mings, will perform a variety of choral pieces and more popular songs, including ‘God So Loved The World’ and ‘Angels’, while the band under the baton of Paul Bagshaw will perform ‘Amazing Grace’, ‘Rise’, ‘Celebration’ and ‘Happy’.
In addition, Bahraini flautist and composer Ahmed Al Ghanem will be accompanied by St Petersburg-trained Japanese pianist Mina Iwahashi, while Jason Carter will play a few pieces on his harp-guitar.
The event will also mark seven years of cathedral concerts. For more information call 17253866.
