Kuwait City: A maid suspected of involvement in the death of an elderly Kuwaiti national in Egypt was arrested pending investigation.
The 80-year-old man's body was found inside his apartment in the Cairo suburb of Giza, according to Kuwait Times.
The maid, who is in her 30s, reported the man’s murder, claiming that robbers had broken into the apartment, tied her up and stole her phone and the deceased’s money before fleeing.
But she broke down during interrogation and admitted that she had arranged the robbery with her brother and sister, taking advantage of her boss’ poor health and age.
The maid added that her brother hired three friends to do the job. She opened the door of the apartment for the three men who tied her and stuck a duct tape on his mouth.
She said, "When the Kuwaiti man tried to remove the tape, they gagged him till he suffocated to death," and added that the suspects stole his money, mobile and her mobile before leaving.
The police managed to round up all the suspects except an accomplice who is still at large.
