THE all-new 2020 Toyota Corolla was launched by sole distributor Ebrahim K Kanoo at the Toyota Showroom, Sitra yesterday.
Corolla is Toyota’s all-time best-selling car series, with more than 46 million cars sold worldwide since the first generation was released in Japan in 1966.
“At Toyota, we strive to design new models that are eye-catching and fun to drive,” said Toyota Corolla chief engineer Yasushi Ueda.
“The Corolla carries a heritage of more than 50 years and has always remained true to its original concept – a passenger car that offers strong levels of quality, durability, and reliability, together with a smooth driving experience.”
Four variations of the model on sale include the 1.6L Xli for BD7,035, the 2.0L Xli for BD7,980, the 2.0L Gli for BD8,715 and the 1.8L hybrid electric vehicle for BD8,610.
The hybrid vehicle can be driven entirely on electrical power with zero-fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions, or by combining the power generated from both the petrol engine and two electric motors, depending on the vehicle’s speed and customer’s driving behaviour.
Its hybrid electric batteries are continuously charged by either the petrol engine or when decelerating and braking, eliminating the need to plug in a power cord.
The models are available in eight distinctive exterior colours.
Lexus and Toyota executive sales manager Ismail Akbar and Toyota marketing senior manager Ayman Shehadeh were also present at the launch.
