Oman: Tourists visiting the Governorate of Dhofar to enjoy the Khareef season have been asked to dress modestly and respect local traditions.
More than 50,000 leaflets have been distributed to tourism centres, requesting foreign visits to heed Omanis’ customs and dress decently.
The Ministry of Tourism issued the advisory as part of an awareness campaign which was launched on the sidelines of three-month Khareef festival, which began in Dhofar last Friday (June21) .
Transport companies also broadcasting messages on the screens of the buses, urging tourists to take account of local traditions and values.
The Ministry has also asked tourists who take pictures in public areas or around people to ensure that they have proper permission before taking pictures.
Visitors were "urged not to take their photos without their local people’s permission and keep sites clean during their visits."
