Bahrain’s contribution to mixed martial arts has been phenomenal, says International Mixed Martial Arts Federation president Kerrith Brown, reports BINU SAMUEL.
Speaking to the GDN on the sidelines of the International Combat Week, Brown said Bahrain has greatly benefited from the vision of Brave Combat Federation founder Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
“Shaikh Khalid’s passion for sports, especially mixed martial arts, has been key to the spread of the sport in Bahrain as well as the rest of the world. His contribution is enormous.”
Brown said MMA has seen rapid growth after 2012, the year IMMAF was founded.
“The growth of mixed martial arts post-2012 has been marvellous and Bahrain has made a great contribution to it,” said Brown, a judo bronze medallist for Britain at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
Brown, who was elected as the IMMAF president in 2015, said the future is extremely bright for mixed martial arts.
“With the support of countries like Bahrain, mixed martial arts will conquer greater heights. More exciting days are ahead,” added Brown.
