THE West Asian Billiards and Snooker Championship begins today at the JJS Club Hall in Adliya.
The Bahrain Billiards, Snooker and Darts Association is organising the championship, sponsored by Seven Leisure.
Apart from hosts Bahrain, cueists from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Kuwait, Oman and Iran are taking part in the event.
Matches will be held in three sessions, starting at 10am, 2 pm and 6 pm daily.
Nineteen billiards and snooker referees from Bahrain, Palestine, Kuwait and Jordan have been chosen to officiate the matches.
Bahrain national snooker team players are Habib Sabah, Khalil Buseef, Youssef Fadhel, Majid Dhaif, Younis Saqr and Talal Jassim.
Fahd Khalaf, Ibrahim Al Qaed, Ali Abdulkarim, Abdulla Isa, Wael Isa, Wael Al Qasimi, Wesam Rateb and Ahmed Faisal will represent Bahrain in billiards.
The Bahrain Billiards, Snooker and Darts Association secretary general and championship director Ehsan Hajji has thanked Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and sponsoring company Seven Leisure for their support.
