Abu Dhabi: The 'Greenliner', Etihad's inaugural eco flight, landed at Abu Dhabi airport on Thursday morning.
According to a flightradar24 report, the flight landed at 8.21am today morning.
Nicknamed 'Greenliner', the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be utilised to research sustainability initiatives while in service on the regular route.
In cooperation with Boeing engineers, the flight will explore three efficiency projects to examine the impact on fuel consumption.
Findings from these projects will be shared with all 787 operators, as part of the partnership between Etihad and Boeing, to improve the efficiency of the whole fleet, the report stated.
As the 787 #Greenliner descends toward Abu Dhabi, pilots are employing a more efficient continuous descent profile, rather than the standard step-down method where an aircraft is cleared to a lower altitude then cleared to descend again. https://t.co/4XnOrkzBiC pic.twitter.com/Q1dOpYgktr
