Dubai: A Qantas flight from Melbourne to Dubai back-tracked to Sydney Airport on Tuesday morning after flying halfway across the country before encountering engineering problems.
The QF 9 flight departed Melbourne shortly after 11pm and was two-and-a-half hours into its journey when the captain made the call to return the plane to Sydney.
The plane reportedly circled Sydney at 21,000 feet for hours before it safely landed at the Sydney airport at 6am.
Passengers will be transferred onto another A380 flight to Dubai.
A Qantas spokesman said there had been a ‘slight vibration issue’ with one of the engines on the QF9 flight, reported Sydney Morning Herald.
