At the core of every human being is the memory of a home filled with fond childhood and adolescent sentiments focused around home-cooked specialities, especially desserts and snacks.
In this age of globalisation, the longing for the unique flavours of those sweets, savouries and desserts remain unsated due to a lack of confectionery establishments that understand these sentiments.
In line with this deep-seated need to not only meet the cravings for sweets and snacks, but also to relive the timeless memories of the days spent at home, Bengal Sweets brings to Bahrain the authentic taste of not only Bengal but of various other regions including Bahrain.
Founded by Mayeen Ahsan in March 2019, Bengal Sweets has already become a household name for connoisseurs of quality sweetmeats, confectionery and savouries of both the Orient and the Occident.
At the heart of this confectionery brand lies its mission of ‘connecting people with sweets’.
This is the passion of its founder and owner, Mr Ahsan, who is an advocate of healthy food and values customer satisfaction.
“We are not competing in the existing market but creating a new market and connecting people with sweets,” he said.
“This market is for people who love authentic sweets and we feel proud in meeting the needs and expectations of our valued customers.
“Our retail and development unit, spearheaded by me, is dedicated to not only identify products that remain cherished in the deepest recesses of people’s hearts, but also to source fresh, quality ingredients that guarantee their authentic tastes and flavours.
“With a robust team of experienced and trained chefs, we have been successfully catering to a substantially increasing customer-base since our inception.
“We are happy to announce our tie-up with one of the largest supermarket chains of Bahrain, Al Jazira Supermarket, and are proud to announce our presence at their Zinj branch with a formal opening ceremony which took place on March 10, 2020.”
The ceremony was attended by Al Jazira’s senior management including chairman Abdul Hussein Khalil Dawani, director Abdul Hameed Dawani, director Ahmed Redha Murtadha Dawani, director Sadiq Khalil Dawani, group general manager Ujjal Mukherjee and country head Keith Dias.
Bengal Sweets offers a wide variety of Indian sweets including rasagullas and sweets using jaggery to various internationally-popular delights.
Food production processes are standardised with special quality-control measures in place and all products are made fresh daily.
Now a prominent name in the kingdom, Bengal Sweets will soon tie up with more supermarket and hypermarket chains on the island and further expand into Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Speaking of where he sees Bengal Sweets in the next five years, Mr Ahsan said “in the heart of the people of Bahrain”.
