Istanbul: Greater global co-operation is imperative to combat terrorism, tackle its causes and dry up its funding, His Majesty King Hamad said yesterday.
In a keynote speech at the Islamic Summit, he reiterated Bahrain’s strong condemnation of terror and its commitment to combat the dangerous phenomenon that is threatening the world’s security.
Bahrain has been suffering as a result of acts of sabotage aided and abetted from abroad, including by Iran and Hizbollah, he pointed out.
“The danger of terrorism is targeting lives, funds and properties in all parts of the world,” His Majesty said.
This requires concerted efforts and resources to defeat this scourge, he added.
He urged stronger co-operation to stave off dangerous internal and external challenges facing the Islamic nation at this critical phase to maintain security, the King said.
His Majesty expressed the hope that the summit will yield a unified, cohesive and effective stance against terrorism.
The keynote address was read by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.
