Members of tour agency Newport Coastal Adventure witnessed a "superpod" of dolphins chasing fish on Saturday (May 16) off the coast of Laguna Beach, California.
"Some lucky families got to experience what it's like to be amongst at least 1,000 dolphins." the company said on their social media account.
Dolphins live in pods to avoid predators such as sharks. According to a wildlife charity Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC), most pods contain from two to thirty dolphins depending on the species and the situation, however, there are occasions when pods gather with other pods to form superpods of 100 or even a few thousand dolphins.
