Kuwait National Assembly will resume regular sessions on June 16 to discuss the government's measures against coronavirus as well as grilling Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr Saud Al Harbi, the Speaker has said.
Marzouq Al Ghanim made the announcement following a meeting of the Parliament's Bureau, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
The heads of the various committees were called to resume their meetings this week in order to finalise all reports that would be submitted at the next session, he said.
According to the Speaker, the current term will be extended to compensate for the sessions that had been suspended in light of the lockdown and other precautionary measures taken by Kuwait to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
The first item on the agenda of the next session will be a report about the government's preparations and measures against Covid-19, Al Ghanim said.
The motion to quiz Al Harbi will also be discussed unless the parliament decides otherwise, he added.
MP Faisal Al Kanderi submitted the motion regarding Al Harbi's alleged mismanagement of the educational process throughout the coronavirus crisis.
