MANAMA: Bahrain has officially applied to join Fifa’s Talent Development Programme, themed ‘Bridging the Gap’.
The Bahrain Football Association (BFA) has submitted an application to be part of the scheme which aims to further innovate worldwide talent development systems of federations, leagues and clubs.
BFA secretary general Ibrahim Al Bouanain stressed the importance of the programme which provides support to national federations to develop the potential of young talented players.
He said the application followed directives from BFA chairman Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa to enhance youngsters’ technical potential and help national teams and clubs.
The ‘Bridging the Gap’ scheme provides technical assessment of football youth competitions and ranks national teams. BFA technical affairs chief Abed Al Ansari held virtual meetings with Fifa experts Gizela Menezes and Gabriel Calderon and discussed aspects of the programme.
