Manama: Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill Company (Garmco) yesterday announced the launch of a safety awareness campaign 2015 “You can make this, the safest place”.
The campaign will be held under a ‘Superheroes’ theme, and will include a series of safety awareness activities conducted by external senior lecturers and doctors.
Garmco’s staff will be attending a series of sessions, including workers’ responsibility against health and safety legislations, general traffic rules, precautions for your health in Ramadan, vital role of vitamin-D in your health and health risks of smoking.
The company said, in a statement, that the safety awareness campaign will be reinforcing the health and safety rules and guidelines, related key performance indicators, job safe practice training, and preventive campaigns which are conducted on a regular basis at Garmco, the Bahrain-based international aluminium rolling mill and one of the largest downstream aluminium facilities in the Middle East.
“The main idea is to make the campaign more memorable and a little humorous while emphasising the seriousness of the messages,” Garmco corporate communications head Hind Al Sabbagh said.
“By drawing on the hero theme, Garmco encourages workers and staff to be heroes by not underestimating any risk in the workplace, no matter how small.”
Garmco complies with all relevant standards of the American Standards Association, Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, Gulf Aluminium Council, and Bahrain Safety Society. The company recently won ‘Safest Companies in the GGC’ award from the Gulf Aluminium Council.
