Promising showjumping rider Mayoof Al Rumaihi yesterday clinched the grand prize of the third round, held at Al Raffa under the patronage of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) president Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
Egyptian Embassy Acting Charge d’Affaires Ahmed Khafaji and Breef Showjumping Promotion Committee chairwoman Huda Janahi present Al Rumaihi with the trophy.
Riding Alvera, Al Rumaihi outclassed his opponents and won the first race without any mistake and the second race with four mistakes, clocking 53.63 seconds.
BDF Team rider Salman Faraj came second after clocking 56.61 seconds, followed by Al Rumaihi (again), who finished third with 61.11 seconds.
Veteran rider Sam Ghazwan came fourth after clocking 50.56 secs in both races, leaving behind him Haitham Al Bastaki (59.88 seconds) and Ahmed Akbar (59.82 seconds).
Al Rumaihi also dominated the beginners’ category, Level 1 – 110cm obtstacles, riding Hollywood to clock 39.12 seconds and totalling 44 points.
BDF rider Faraj came second (39.88 seconds – 44 points), followed by Ahmed Al Alawi (4026 seconds – 44 points), Faraj (41.18 seconds – 44 points), Mohammed Ali Radhi (42.90 seconds – 44 points), and Al Alawi (43.79 seconds – 44 points).
In the fourth competition for advanced level (two-phase contest – 120cm obstacles), Ali Radhi claimed the trophy, clocking 30.08 seconds.
He was followed by Fahad Jamal (31.50 seconds), BDF rider Mahmoud Abdul Qader (33.60 seconds), Al Alawi (33.94 seconds), Mahmoud Abdul Qader (35.61 seconds) and Al Rumaihi (29.71 seconds).
In the fifth competition for advanced category (Level 3 – 130cm obstacles), the winner was Hussein Dadallah, who rode Champion to clock 44.53 seconds.
He was followed by BDF riders Faraj and Ahmed Mansour, who clocked 45.16 seconds and 47.88 seconds respectively.
Haitham Al Bastaki came fourth with 48.31 respectively , followed by Al Alawi who clocked 48.71 seconds and Ali Radhi with 48.31 seconds but less points.
