Bahrain’s youth team claimed third position in the World Under-18 Mixed Martial Arts Championship, organised by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Bahrain won three bronze medals at the event – Saud Salman in category C 31kg section, Muhammad Al Samii in 56.7kg and Hamad Marhoon in 61.2kg in category A.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and SCYS chairman and His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for Bahrain’s outstanding performance at the global event.
Shaikh Khalid said: “We are proud of the great achievement of our young heroes Saud Salman, Hamad Marhoon and Muhammad Al Samii in the global event. This honourable results reinforce the advanced position of the kingdom in this sport, both continentally and internationally.” He also wished the youth team success in upcoming competitions.
GSA deputy chairman and Bahrain Combat Sports Council president Shaikh Salman bin Muhammad Al Khalifa and Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation president Muhammad Ali Qambar also congratulated the Bahraini youngsters.
