Bahrain is coming together to support its delegation to the 2020 Paralympic Games, to be held in Tokyo later this month.
Bahrainis Ruba Al Omari (discus throw) and Ahmed Al Mushaima (javelin throw) will be participating the Games, set to kick off on August 24.
In its bid to support mobility for all and elevate the kingdom on a global stage, Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo (EKK), the exclusive dealer for Toyota in the kingdom, will be supporting the team and announced their partnership during a Press conference yesterday.
“We have an outstanding team of award-winning professional athletes and para athletes in Bahrain, and partnerships like this help encourage more people to come forward to realise their dreams, regardless of any impossible obstacles they face,” EKK managing director Talal Fuad Kanoo explained.
“We are happy to encourage everyone to realise their full potential and follow their dreams. It gives us great pleasure to be here with these inspiring people who prove, every day, that with strong will and determination, you can indeed achieve great success.”
Al Omari has secured sixth place in discus throw at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Brazil, while Al Mushaima brought home the silver medal in men’s shot put in 2004.
The partnership comes in support of Toyota’s ‘Start Your Impossible’ campaign, which highlights both the Japanese marquee’s and EKK’s commitment to provide freedom of mobility for all.
Bahrain Paralympic Committee president Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa noted the important role that companies like EKK play in supporting the local sports scene, adding: “We are very proud to partner with EKK, one of Bahrain’s most important family businesses, as well as with Toyota.
“The commitment of the private sector to encourage investment in the national sporting field falls in line with the wise leadership of the nation, with the unwavering support of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for charity work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and the guidance of SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.”
Toyota’s ‘Start Your Impossible’ campaign kicked off in 2015, and is set to continue until 2024, aiming to elevate the marquee from an automobile brand to a mobility-focused one.
The company is providing sustainable mobility solutions for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, including intelligent transport systems, urban traffic systems and vehicle-to-vehicle communications systems.
